Founded in 1988, Prices Plus is a leading discount variety retailer with over 30 stores and around 350 direct employees located throughout Queensland and New South Wales. Prices Plus identified the need for professional HR management advice and support. Prices Plus were seeking HR expertise to assist with the performance of the organisation and to comply with legislation, as well as meet their long-term growth objectives.

The Founder and Managing Director of Prices Plus identified the need for professional HR management support to free up his time, ensure compliance with workplace legislation, and to build and high-performance culture to help with business growth. Prices Plus Managing Director chose to outsource the company’s HR function to Harrisons and worked in trusting collaboration with Harrisons to deliver outcomes.

Solution

Prices Plus utilises Harrisons’ HR Team service with a focus on operational HR management, as well as strategic HR planning and advice from Harrisons’ Managing Director and Head of HR Team Service. Prices Plus has a dedicated Harrisons’ Senior Consultant/HR Manager working with them 3 days per week.  The services that have been delivered to Prices Plus include:

  • Facilitation of a Human Resources Health Check, resulting in a comprehensive report with specific recommendations for implementation.
  • Development and implementation of a prioritised People and Culture Plan addressing leader, recognition, wellness, culture, performance, and appointment challenges.
  • Conduct an Employee Engagement Survey, with report of results, presentation to leadership team and action planning, plus and pulse checks throughout the year.
  • Development of HR policies, procedures, and processes, and employment contracts from scratch.
  • Analysis comparing the expired enterprise agreement against the terms of the relevant Modern Awards to determine best approach moving forward, as well a comprehensive award and pay audit to ensure legislative compliance.
  • Design of a new Employee Value Proposition (EVP) as well as new recruitment strategies to attract and retain potential candidates, and the recruitment of various strategic roles.
  • Delivery of training for managers on recruitment, probation, feedback and disciplinary processes.
  • Redesign organisational chart and draft position descriptions to support the new business structure.
  • Coach leaders in performance management of employees including feedback, reward, recognition and legislative compliance.
  • Review existing WH&S toolbox talks and guide senior leaders regarding safety issues.
  • Create a new Performance and Development Review process in their internal system for all positions.
