Department of Education, Training and Employment (DETE) identified a need Review and update workforce planning information for the IT Branch of the Department of Employment Training and Education in line with all of government requirements.

Solution

Harrison Human Resources was engaged to undertake the project which included: 

  • Engaging with key stakeholders across DETE ITB 
  • gathering workforce data, including MOHRI codes and workforce demographics from DETE’s corporate HR and payroll team 
  • conducting group and one-on-one data gathering interviews with the ITB HR/Finance personnel around the required review of data 
  • collating and analysing the data provided by the ITB HR/Finance personnel 
  • meeting regularly with DETE’s HR and payroll team to scope and project and provide the updated data in the most efficient and useful way

Outcome

The DETE ITB workforce planning report contributed to whole of government IT workforce reporting. 

Strengths contributing to the completion of this project generally, and in addressing the challenges referred to above included: 

  • knowledge and application of workforce data reporting methods, minimum obligatory human resource information (MOHRI) and corporate codes, and Queensland Government IT workforce strategy; 
  • project management and project delivery to deliver objectives within timescales; 
  • ability to investigate, collate data, review current state, conduct gap analysis and make recommendations for change;  
  • leverage of broad knowledge of all aspects of the ICT service in Queensland Government; 
  • building of ownership through strong engagement with the client; 
  • a collaborative and integrated team approach to build unique and pragmatic solutions within a changing and challenging environment; relationship building with key stakeholders and influencers); 
  • ability to gather, collate and test information using various sources, including face-to-face interviews; and 
  • data analysis, attention to detail, Excel spread sheeting to identify amendments required.
